The Polokwane municipality in Limpopo has confirmed the building of an R800-million stadium to be used in the 2010 World Cup, the SABC reported on Friday. The stadium, which would be named the Peter Mokaba Complex, will be built next to the existing Peter Mokaba stadium. Polokwane mayor Thabo Mokonyane said refurbishing or demolishing the existing stadium would have been too costly for the municipality.

The session was held to inform businesses of opportunities that could arise if the city was chosen to host a World Cup match in 2010. A final decision on the 13 host cities is expected to be made by Fifa on November 23 this year.
